Not much wildlife

I don't begrudge the $15 entry fee because it takes a lot of funding to maintain a mangrove swamp in a city, but we were disappointed that we saw so little wildlife. It takes about an hour to walk the total boardwalk slowly. In that time we saw only two herons, a crab and a few jellyfish. We were very quiet and heard a few birds (not seen) but there was very little to spot.

Learn about the importance of the mangroves on Curacao

A pleasant boardwalk through the mangroves. Admission was $15 (US) per person; guided tours, both walking and in kayaks, were available but we chose to walk around on our own. Signboards along the boardwalk loop were interesting and informative. There are some benches along the boardwalk. Shade locations would depend on the time of day, and insect repellent is recommended. We enjoyed watching the beautiful brown-throated parakeets flying around, a green heron finding food in the grass, and some fish. A park ranger was walking around and stopped to chat with us about the park and other birds that we might see. We spent an hour or so there and felt it was worth the time to learn about the importance of the mangroves on Curacao.

Enjoyable and educational stroll

Well maintained trails, easy access to entrance by cruise ship dock, numerous signs describing the setting. Plenty of shade and places to rest. $15USD entry per person to walk - kayaks also for rent

Worth visiting!

This was a little tricky to get to — we had to walk past the cruise ship terminal, parking lots and the baseball stadium, so the sign was very helpful to see! It was so worth it — the guide does both walking and kayak tours, and he was excellent (we did the walking tour), and they have achieved so much in less than three years. We saw jellyfish, a heron and parakeets, mangrove crabs, and the charming park dog. We were happy to pay the admission fee and we hope they can expand as planned.

Small park next to mega cruise ship dock, worth the visit for the birds

Small park right next to the mega-pier for cruise ships. Easy to get to. There is a charge for this park, but you can come back more than once. There is a path that goes around (kind of a 1-way trip). Many birds to see. Good instructional signs on the path explaining the various types of trees, fish, environments. Recommend it to birders and others interested in nature. Can be hot.
